Phase 2 of Mill Creek project moves forward
The Mill Creek project, located along Govenors Dr, has received more funding. This is phase 2 funding which will be used for 100 units of senior housing. Phase 1 construction will begin construction next year.
The project will add a lot more density in one of the most redeveloped areas in the city. Nearby Campus 805 and Stovehouse have both seen large transformations over the past 10 years. The mill Creek project will have more than 700 housing units. This is around 3 times as many housing units that were previously on the land. In addition, retail shops will be mixed into the community, allowing for improved walkablility.

Huntsville awarded $6.1M federal grant to add six hybrid buses to transit fleet
Great to see the city continue to invest in public transit. $6.1m is from the federal grant, while an additional $1.08m is being provided by the city to pay for the 6 buses.
“As Huntsville continues to grow, our transit system must grow with it. This grant supports our long-term plan to modernize the fleet and ensure residents have access to reliable, efficient transportation. It’s a smart investment in the infrastructure that keeps our city moving,” Mayor Tommy Battle said.
The new buses will be larger, environmentally cleaner and more efficient hybrid while operating with reduced carbon emissions, improved fuel efficiency and lower maintenance costs. They also will be the first hybrid buses in the City fleet.
