Huntsville International Airport set a record for travel for a third-straight year in 2025.
Huntsville airport continues to grow with over 1.7 million passengers in 2025. Thats around 140,000 passengers per month, with 168,000 passengers in its highest month.
Its a great time to start investing in transit connecting from downtown to the airport, whether its a BRT system or a shuttle. According to a study commissioned by the city in 2022, a BRT system connecting downtown to the airport would cost around $2 million per year, and “capital costs for this service would be negligible”. Compare this to the $57 million being spent to increase the parking at the airport by 1,400 stalls.

All the more reason to add a new bus line along 565. The widening of 565 is not going to help traffic if we just add more developments along the interstate and add no alternatives to driving.
