This Thursday, the city council will likely approve a plan to work with ALTA on developing a study on how to improve safety along Governors Dr and the medical district.

ALTA will coordinate with the City of Huntsville in developing the Governors Drive
Corridor Study & Medical District Safety Action Plan (hereinafter the “Study”).

The Governors Drive Corridor Study & Medical District Safety Action Plan will
recommend short-term to long-term ways to improve safety along the Governors Drive corridor and within the Medical District for people walking, biking, rolling, and driving. The Study & Plan will assess existing conditions, including crash history and safety concerns, multimodal traffic conditions, key destinations and land use, and challenges and opportunities.

This study will cost the city $800,000 and take up to 15 months.

Looks like it also has a matching grant from US DOT Safe Streets and Roads For All program

Governors Drive improvements don’t end westward at Memorial Parkway.
Governors Dr. at I 565 is a Huntsville Gateway into the core of our city! Mindful of our thriving Hispanic Community off of I565 around the Governors / Triana / Clinton intersections, Huntsville should establish Governors at Triana / Clinton as an International Gateway with a Roundabout and an artistic internationally themed memorial which reflects Huntsville’s commitment to all people who have contributed to making Huntsville unique.
Word it how you choose but this should be done.

    Let’s have more vision!
