Municipal Election Candidates
The candidate list for the August 25th city council and board of education election is now set. City council districts 2, 3, and 4 are up for election with each race having one or more challengers. Strong Towns aligned candidates Thomas Casez, Liliana Peinder, and Nick Frevold are running against the incumbents in districts 2, 3, and 4 respectively.

Overshadowed no more, Decatur’s mayor sets 75,000 population goal: ‘We’re taking off now’
Decatur is seeing the growth in huntsville, Madison, and Athens and wants to be part of that growth. To accommodate this growth, Decatur is building their first apartment complex in 30 years.

Camp in MidCity temporarily closing as it moves to new location
The camp will close on July 4th and reopen in the next few months in a new location within Midcity that will be much bigger than its current size.

Mill Creek neighborhood construction starting
Phase 1 of the Mill Creek project has officially began construction. This is a mixed development along Governor’s drive. The project will be completed in phases, with the final phase being completed by 2032.
